Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.

The Unity Pavilion, located in the International Zone of Auroville, hosts a range of activities related to Human Unity and Unity in Diversity. The Unity Pavilion also collaborates closely with and supports the development of the International Zone. Under these themes the Unity Pavilion hosts Cultural events, Workshops, Lectures, Seminars and Exhibitions. It has also become a much appreciated venue for Auroville’s Community meetings.
The Peace Table for Asia is placed in the Hall of Peace which is part of the Unity Pavilion complex. This is one of six Tables of Peace envisioned and created by architect and wood craftsman George Nakashima.
The aim of the Unity Pavilion in Auroville is to promote understanding between individuals, cultures and nations. An actual human unity is the basis for realising world peace.
It is no longer towards division and difference that we should turn our minds, but on unity, union, even oneness necessary for the pursuit and realisation of a common ideal.
